Argentina and Barcelona super star Lionel Messi does not want play against African giant Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA world cup in Russia.
About a week ago the 2018 World Cup draws were held in Moscow and teams around the world knew who they would be facing when the tournament kicks off in Russia.
Group D saw Argentina draw with African giants, Nigeria.
The South American are the undisputed favorites of the group. But Lionel Messi is not ruling out Nigeria who just won Argentina in a friendly match in Russia in the last international break.
Even though Messi didn’t play that game, he insists that the Super Eagles are a threat.
In an interview with TyC Sports, ‘La Pulga’ said: “You can expect anything from African teams.”
“If they have their day, they can score four goals against you.”
“Nigeria have very good players, fast players, you can’t give them space.”
“However, they also allow you to play; they leave gaps and many spaces are generated.”
Nigeria’s captain, John Obi Mikel, also received praises from Messi.
“We have crossed paths several times, but have never talked to each other. Simply, a greeting and the usual respect, that’s all,” Messi concluded.
Both teams would play on June 21 at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Novgorod at the 2018 world cup.
