Yen Ghana has put together some achievements of Shatta Wale in 2017 that hammers the fact that he is the ‘African Dancehall King’ indeed!
1. Recognition in America
Shatta Wale who has travelled the world over has received a lot of commendation from fans outside the country for his talent. In his recent travels to the United States of America, he was given the Key to the city of Worcester for his achievements in the world of music. This recognition is unparalleled and it is second to none. It placed the musician on a high pedestal among his colleagues.
2. His appearance at Stonebwoy’s concert in Ashiaman
It is somewhat an established rumor that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are fierce rivals in the dancehall genre in Ghana. The two showed their ‘dislike’ for each other by giving themselves nicknames with Shatta Wale being referred to as “Corporal Nii” and Stonebwoy being nicknamed “Sergeant Lee”. However during Stonebwoy’s, “Ashiaman to the World” Concert, the “Taking Over” hit maker appeared and shared the same stage with Stonebwoy and the gesture got many people talking on social media. His action put to bed, the rumors making rounds over his rivalry with Stonebwoy.
3. Recording 109 singles within 11 months
The “Taking Over” hit maker set record as a dancehall artiste in Ghana by recording more singles than any other musician in the country. He spent most of the time in the studio and made songs on many issues he felt needed attention. One of his songs titled “Libya” was a composition against the slave trade in the North African country.
4. Flagstaff House Invitation
Shatta Wale made national headlines during his birthday in October this year. The musician received a special birthday message from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo inviting him to the Flagstaff House. The musician paid a courtesy call on the president some days later and he received an award during the visit. He also used the opportunity to fete some people and also went on a procession with his fans. His birthday was a big deal in Ghana and many people talked about it on social media.
5. Most searched artiste and songs on Google
Shatta Wale made Google’s list of the most searched artiste and top 3 most searched songs for the year 2017 when Google released its trend for Ghana and other African countries. This achievement I a testament of how many music-lovers in Ghana hold the “Ayoo” hit maker in high esteem.
6. Became an Ambassador for Storm Energy Drink
The artiste managed to land himself a sweet deal with one of Ghana’s prestigious companies, Kasapreko Ghana Limited. The musician after making several Facebook live videos which saw him drinking one their products, Storm Energy drink, the company saw it wise to make him an ambassador. Due to his huge following on social media, the company looks to make gains with his popularity. He went on to initiate a Storm Challenge where his fans posted pictures of themselves drinking the energy drink.
